OVERVIEW:
James was the first child born to Harry and Ginny Potter on a crisp October morning. It seemed he had managed to skip out on the red hair that his mother and both grandmothers had, and instead followed in his grandfathers and fathers footsteps with black hair. His childhood was a normal one with a very protective mother, enthusiastic father, and many cousins and uncles to entertain him. Of course when he was merely two he already had two siblings to play with, look out for, and of course bully. What were older brothers for after all?
Being the oldest, he of course was the first of the children to go to Hogwarts, and James thought his mother was going to die of hysterics seeing him go. He however couldn't be more excited after hearing all of his fathers stories from his school years, and James was hoping they too would have a tri-wizard tournament, though he figured with the death of the Diggory boy that wouldn't ever be happening again. When he made it to school, James couldn't be happier that he was sorted into Gryffindor just like his parents, his aunts and uncles, and his grandparents. He would be carrying on the family legacy, and James was sure his siblings would follow. But the next year, James was disappointed to lose his brother to Ravenclaw. True Albus was brilliant, and James wished he was even half as smart, but he felt vaguely alone. Then when Lily went to Slytherin, James thought it was a mistake. She was a Potter! They don't belong in Slytherin by any means! But he got over it, and went through his school years like normal.
In his fourth year, James tried out for the Quidditch team and secured a spot as Chaser. He couldn't have been happier, and many people told him he was just like his father and grandfather on the broom. His life was pretty easy, and cushy to say the least, that was until they came. There had been whispers of dark wizards on the rise again, but James ignored it for the mos part. Voldemort was nothing but a molding corpse right? How could he be back? But he was wrong, dead wrong, someone else was following in his footsteps.
The night they came, James had been in the living room reading up on his books when they came through the front door. His father shoved him to the staircase and told him to get his siblings, but James couldn't move out of pure shock. He stood there on the steps gripping the banister in fear as they tortured his mother until her body gave out, and his father had to watch before receiving the killing curse himself. Right as that curse hit his father, James knew what he had to do, and he ran up and grabbed his siblings, and ran.
Now James is in his last year, and is currently working on keeping his family together, as well as himself. Seeing his parents die like that had taken a toll on him mentally, his grades slipped, insomnia kept him awake for days, and depression consumed him. James won't let on about this though, and deals with these demons alone.

RP SAMPLE:
Lily sat there, contempt, anger, confusion, and worrying all mingling in the forefront of her mind. God, she must have looked a right mess at the moment and if this weren't so grave, she would probably laugh if she caught a proper glimpse at her face. Reaching a shaking hand up she wiped angrily at the tears running down her face, her mascara and eyeliner staining the tips of her fingers. Not bothering to try and clean herself up anymore, sure it would just smear her makeup even worse, Lily let her hand fall to grip the counter-top, while the other just fiddled with the fabric of her dress.
Looking down at the leaves and berries on the floor, she did her best to concentrate to clear her mind of all this emotion and think logically. This whole trip back home had been a giant cluster of a mess, she should have listened to James when she roused early that morning. He had muttered half asleep for her to come back to bed, to stay there with him and have a nice lie in. But instead she told him she had plans for a nice day of lunch with her mother, and possibly shopping. How wrong, how utterly wrong she was. If she had any inkling that she would be running into Severus before it had happened, she would have never left the comforts of her bed.
Thing was though, she had been wanting to talk to him, to find out how he was. Unfortunately, Lily had a rather large heart, and even though she told herself and others that she hated Severus, her heart wouldn't let her throw away those feelings. He had been her first real close friend when she was a child before her sister, and through school. She had lost her sisters companionship when she dared enter platform 9 3/4 that fateful September morning, and from then on she leaned on Severus more then ever. Sure Lily had friends in her house, but none of them were as close as she and he were. They had known one another for years, you couldn't ruin a friendship like that, even with distance, yet he managed to break that apart. He managed to take that bond and smash it to pieces and pretend that it never existed, yet Lily wondered. Somewhere in the back of her mind, if he really meant to do it, or if it was his damned 'friends', the ones she told him she didn't like and to stay away from. All these questions and thoughts had been trapped in her head for so long, yet she avoided getting the real answers, afraid of what they actually were.
"If my dying made you happy I'd have done it ages ago. I have...nothing left...not even hope."
Lily had ignored his other mutterings, used to him working out what he wanted to say when they were younger. It was amazing how time could not undo routines, and how easily it seemed the both of them feel right back into them once again. But when he spoke of not having hope, she opened her mouth to retort, to tell him he was being foolish, that there was plenty to hope for, the words were lost in her throat. He had grabbed her hand, and she felt goosebumps travel up her arm, and down her spine. It was amazing what one little touch could do to a person, and it had left Lily, one of many words, completely speechless. Glancing down at his hand, which was much larger then her own, she watched him trace along her fingers, before going to the ring. She could almost feel the pain he felt as he shuddered away from the diamond, and Lily went to pull back to stop the hurt, but he had done it already himself.
"Even someone like Potter is better than someone like me...I never should have hoped."
"Stop it," Lily said as she watched him gather up the poisons in his hands. Her statement was referring to what he had just said, as well as his attempt to pick up the leaves. "There is always hope, don't you know that? If there wasn't hope do you think I would be alive right now?" Lily asked him, her eyes narrowing. The only thing that was keeping her going, keeping her alive was the hope that one day this world would be better, she wouldn't leave in fear of being killed, or losing her loved ones. She watched him reach up for a coffee mug, and she snapped for a moment. The passion that had been dying to get out broke free and her hand flew up knocking the stained white mug out of his hand. It fell to the counter with a rather large shatter, and pieces flew about
"What happened to you?" Lily asked her voice barely a whisper as a few more tears fell down her face. "What happened to the once passionate Severus I knew? That one that refused to give up?" She continued. He had always thought that going to Hogwarts had been a way out, a way to survive his family, and it was, she had seen how happy he had been at school. Then James Potter came along, though James was nothing compared to Tobias, and Lily couldn't understand why he could just let it go. James was no reason for him to live his life like this, and neither was she. He could find someone else, he didn't need to live his life this way because she was no longer in it. He had been the one to push her out in the first place, so why be upset?
Reaching out she grabbed his wrist weakly, and pulled his hand away from the poisons that were deposited on the counter once again. Lily knew he could break out of her grip easily, and she didn't bother denying that, but with a small tug she turned him to face her. "Please stop torturing yourself like this," Lily begged him as she reached her other hand up to his face to wipe away his tears. She had done this often when they were younger and he ran to her house after a beating from his father, or when he found his mother passed out in a drunken stupor. Lily was always the one who patched him up (if her mother wasn't around), listened to his sobs and wiped away his tears. "I'm begging you please," she pleaded once again before letting her hand fall back down to her side. [/SIZE]
