strengths:
» INTELLECTUAL & EIDETIC MEMORY
- Being a graduate from Ravenclaw, it comes as no surprise that Zach is exceedingly intelligent. Even at the age of twenty-five he's still trying to learn something new every day. And with his eidetic memory he remembers every single thing he goes out to learn. He is, in many ways, more brain than brawn for sure.
» ANCIENT RUNES & OTHER KNOWLEDGE BASED STUDIES
- Zachary specializes in Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Astronomy, History of Magic, etc. Anything that involves studying a textbook heavily is something that he specializes in. He also reads a lot of muggle reports and knows a lot of random factoids.
» PATIENT & TOLERANT
- Even as a kid Zach was pretty objective about people, giving everyone the benefit of the doubt before they prove him wrong either way. He likes to believe the best out of people, but do not mistake this for being naive. He makes his own impressions and judgments, he just doesn't vocalize them or make them known. He treats all of his students well, no matter what their blood status or family affiliation may be, but adults make it a bit more difficult for him to do so.
» DEPENDABLE & STEADY
- There were plenty of times that Zach helped out the school bullies with their homework, even if they were being asshats, because he's the kind of guy you can depend on. He's punctual, precise, and always willing to help. Then again he's a man of routine and rarely deviates from it, aside from helping out a friend.
» CALM & SELF-COMPOSED
- Zach is the master of his emotions, if you see an emotion, it's because he wants you to see it. While people often have a difficult time getting to know him, befriending him, or even understanding him, it becomes a quite a strength under pressure. Zach has been known to get himself out of a pinch just by keeping his cool and using his higher brain function. Of course, people still mock him for his 'robotic' ways, they seem to forget that still waters run deep.
weaknesses:
» PACIFISTIC & ALOOF
- A definite problem with the coming war and taking sides is his inherently pacifistic ideals. Zach does not believe violence is the way to go and abhors fighting, even as a kid he always sucked in dueling. In fact the only reason he has chosen the side of the order is the fear of what might become of his students. Zach wants to make sure all of his students are safe above anything else--although he does not agree with any purist ideals. Additionally, Zach's objective attitude is more often than not mistaken for indifference or a lack of sympathy.
» WORKAHOLIC & WITHDRAWN
- Zach works himself to the bone, with his teaching and working for the order on the side, he almost never finds time to go out and enjoy himself. He is quite high-strung because of it, and rarely gets a full night's sleep. Coupled with his aloof nature, Zach has been described as socially withdrawn and unsociable. While this is somewhat true, he's really just tired.
» MATTER-OF-FACT & BLUNT
- Patient and protective? Yes. However, everyone has their pet peeves and Zach's is people suffering from stupid. Zach is not the gentlest of persons when it comes to teaching a lesson or giving someone advice. He bluntly states it and doesn't attempt to mask his annoyance if someone just isn't getting it. The more times he has to explain something, the more obvious his irritation becomes. Also, he's not one for poetic chitchat or romantic claims of love. If he likes a woman, he'll just state it as if he were reading something from a textbook.
» SOCIALLY AWKWARD & ROMANTICALLY INEPT
- Ever since he was a scrawny teenager, Zach has been socially awkward. Even as a teacher he still paces when speaking in front of a class and his words often get tripped up by 'um' or 'uh'. It has gotten quite better since youth, but he's still not completely confident with public speaking or stepping outside his comfort zone. Additionally, he's always had trouble with women. He's not a particularly bad boyfriend per se, he's just not a casanova or prince charming.
» SUFFERS FROM MIGRAINES
- For all his intelligence and knowledge hoarding, Zach is saddled with frequent migraines; his muggle father suffers from the same affliction. It happens sporadically and usually presents whenever Zach is feeling especially stressed out. They get so bad that he usually has to take a sick day to recuperate.
dementor: Zach has a fear of being buried alive. When he was seventeen, his Uncle Drew passed away and he attended the funeral, of course. He was especially irritable and upset, so an argument between his brother and him led to a shoving match and Zach was pushed into a freshly dug grave. It was more than an hour before the groundskeeper for the cemetery was able to figure out a way to get him out.
patronus: Zach's favorite memory is his Uncle Drew reading to him. Whether it was the childhood stories from when Zach was young or the historical texts about the wizarding world when Zach was a young adult, his Uncle Drew would read to him. Or they would read together. Either way, his most fond memories are of those days. His patronus takes the form of a badger.
sexuality & relationship status: heterosexual & single (formerly engaged)

father: lucas harrison (muggle), fifty, retired stock broker
mother: callidora etwall, fourty-six, retired ministry worker for the department for regulation, control of magical creatures
siblings: ____ ____ harrison, nineteen, R NEUTRAL.
others: drew etwall (uncle, deceased)
overall history: Zach's history is relatively simple and boring. He was the firstborn son to the Harrison's and he was always raised with the knowledge of magic and Hogwarts. His father was a stock broker, often working late hours and going on business trips. This lack of a fatherly figure led Zach to attach to his Uncle Drew paternally, so this in turn led to some awkwardness between him and his muggle father. When Zach was six, his younger brother was born and Zach was surprisingly patient. He never complained about the attention being focused on the newborn baby and never resented his younger brother for it. It wasn't until he and his brother got older that they began to bicker. Up until the age of eleven, Zach attended a public muggle school on his father's wishes--but was immediately enrolled in Hogwarts the day his letter arrived.
In his muggle school and Hogwarts, Zach was a bright young child and excelled in everything academic. He didn't have very many muggle friends, and was often subjected to schoolyard bullying. Nothing really changed in that aspect when he was sent to Hogwarts, except now that he had his own house to live in making friends became easier for him. As he got older, school bullies would negotiate with him to cease the torment if he would help them studying. Zach complied, naturally. Now they weren't exactly friends, but by the time Zach was in fifth year, the childish teasing had all but ceased to exist. Not long after, his younger brother received his letter to Hogwarts and both of the Harrison boys were enrolled.
In sixth year Zach met "the girl of his dreams" and later fiancée, Noreen from Gryffindor. She was his complete opposite, outgoing, warm, and popular. He had to meet her. Awkward, skinny and hopelessly infatuated, Zach approached her and attempted to befriend her. It was a great deal easier than he had expected, since his beloved happened to possess a good heart and she accepted him easily. It wasn't long before he confessed his true intentions and she agreed to date him. The remained together throughout the rest of their stay at Hogwarts and he proposed to her the day after they graduated.
When Zach was in year seven, he temporarily had to leave his studies on account of the fact that his Uncle passed away. It was a rather trying time for the whole family, but Zach took it especially hard. Instead of properly grieving, Zach buried himself in textbooks and schoolwork--which admittedly led to him passing the O.W.L.'s and N.E.W.T's with flying colors--but nearly broke his relationship into pieces. Noreen stayed with him, however, and indefinitely led to their engagement at the end of the year. Afterwards, Zach continued to study his ass off in order to become a professor, specializing in Ancient Runes. At the age of twenty-three he was given his teaching degree and immediately applied at Hogwarts.
With a good job going for him, you would think that all he had left to do was get married. Unfortunately, he and his fiancée had eventually grew apart from working so hard on getting their dream jobs, so much so that they barely had anything to talk about. Last year, Noreen left him without so much as a note--only leaving behind the engagement ring he'd saved up his allowance for. Safe to say he didn't see it coming and was significantly depressed for a good few months. He hasn't really seen much of her since and still harbors some feelings of affection, anger and confusion over the whole thing.
As of four months ago, Zach joined the Order to be better able to protect all of his students from the oncoming blood-war. He is still getting to know people and has a difficult time fitting in.

role play sample: lol i just whipped this up right now, it's been awhile since I've rped! sorry it's awful. With a heavy sigh, Zach tossed the position paper he had been reading onto the mountain of them--the papers were in disarray all over his desk and just looking at it caused a headache. He rubbed his temples, as if to will away the oncoming migraine and surprisingly it seemed to work. He knew, of course, that it was only temporary and he was going to have a hell of a time getting to sleep later that night. Thinking of sleep, he glanced at the grandfather clock standing tall next to his desk and realized how late it actually was. Passed midnight. Losing track of time while grading papers was a regular occurrence for him, but the way his body was protesting tonight made him stand from the desk and flee his study--despite the fact that his fingers itched to organize the mess he was leaving behind.
He walked down the hall with plainly colored, bare walls towards the small kitchen, putting the kettle on as soon as he reached it. He lived in a modest house, the only lavish room being the aforementioned study. As he waited for the kettle to come to a boil, he glanced around his kitchen and began to over-analyze everything he saw. Clinically white walls, tiny table, and not a plant in sight. 'No wonder she left,' He thought with a smile that resembled self-loathing more than happiness. The smile soon faded to a more pathetic expression of lonesomeness, but it wasn't long before the kettle had come to a boil and he could fixate on that instead of himself. After preparing a cup of Earl Grey tea, Zach began to climb the stairs towards his plain bedroom, but was stopped by a gentle knock at his door. He paused mid-step and turned. Merlin's beard, who was paying a house visit at this time? With a groan and a grimace he descending his stairs and approached the door--looking out the peephole before unlocking the door.
It was someone from the Order, that much he knew, as far as names went he was completely at a loss. He could remember every face of every person he ever met, but unless he read some sort of name tag, it was all lost on him. He cleared his throat awkwardly and leaned against the door frame, but didn't budge to allow them entrance quite yet. He sized them up slowly before asking in an exhausted tone, "What are you doing here at this hour?" That was a stupid question, he knew, obviously this was Order business--why else would someone call on him this late? The person whose name he couldn't remember made a face and with all the manners of an angry bear, 'I have some important information, let me in.'
He would have liked nothing more than to turn them down and tell them to get the hell off his porch, but that just wouldn't do. "By all means, make yourself comfortable." Sarcasm, but Zach moved aside to let them in anyways. They sat themselves at his tiny kitchen table, and a brief stretch of silence enveloped them. Zach waited for a few moments, nonchalantly sipping his tea with an expression depicting his lack of enthusiasm. The person sitting across from him seemed on edge, shifting in their seat every now and then, clearly not sure of where to begin. Normally, Zach would have been more than happy to give them time, but eventually his exhaustion got the better of him and he lost his patience, "Well? Out with it, what's this all about?" His words were curt and admittedly rude, but he tried to maintain a calm tone of voice nevertheless. As he awaited the gossip to be spilled, he began to rub his sore eyes in hopes of keeping the oncoming migraine at bay until this discussion was over and done with.
