ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
walking down the corridors this late at night often gave adrik lestrange something to worry about. even though hogwarts had been a second home for years now, everything - every creak, every portrait that grumbled in it's sleep - everything still sent chills down his spine when it was this late at night. technically it wasn't terribly late, considering it was only midnight, but it was late enough that adrik probably shouldn't have been out. it was late enough that nate was probably going to give him a fairly long speech about being out and having to get him out of trouble. well, that wasn't really like nate to do that, but adrik always assumed the worst when it came to getting in trouble. naturally his boyish good looks had gotten him out of far too many binds, but this was his brother, and adrik had a hunch that it wasn't going to work this time. he could have been wrong, but it was a pretty strong hunch that nate wouldn't fall for adrik's boyish good looks. adrik released a laugh as he thought about bringing up that joke later. nate and adrik's relationship was a good one, surprisingly good for a pair of stone-cold lestranges. adrik adored his brother, and completely looked up to him, whether he admitted it to himself or not. nate was engaged to adrik's other "sister", estella flint. he and stella had a decent relationship. they picked on each other a lot, actually, which made adrik quite proud that his brother and stella were getting hitched. he didn't picture anyone else becoming his sister, and truth be told, he was actually excited to have one that he actually liked. true, adrik didn't like any of his sisters, especially the eldest. the only sibling he really cared about was nate, and being the two boys of the family, they had virtually gotten away with everything. adrik was never exactly sure why he didn't enjoy his sisters' company; all he knew was that oftentimes, he found that they got on his nerves. soon after that, he'd be griping to nate about them. and, of course, nate would explain that they were family, and he shouldn't treat them with such disrespect. adrik would say something along the lines of, "it's not my fault you're the eldest. you have to like them. i'm the youngest; i can push them into a ditch and nobody would think anything of it." and usually, that was adrik's excuse for everything - including dyeing his sisters' hair green to match her robes. he wasn't sure, but he still didn't think she forgave him for that. not that he cared, really. he had other things to worry about. much bigger things.
like his ever-present feelings for bella. his bella. the girl that stole his heart at fourteen and kept his heart all this time. adrik couldn't pretend that he felt anything for melanie at this point; she was pretty, yes, but she wasn't bella. she wasn't his bella. and she never would be. nobody could be, really. he needed bella so badly it hurt him sometimes, but he usually shut those feelings up by snogging someone else - oftentimes, that girl wasn't even melanie. his parents probably frowned upon his actions, but considering they would eventually marry him off anyways, he didn't figure they should care a whole lot about who he dated in-between that time and now. it was coming up soon, he figured, with all the talking that they were doing behind closed doors. he wasn't allowed to join in the conversation yet, unfortunately, but he knew when the time was coming. he had seen it coming for nate, and luckily for him his father had paired him up with estella flint, who was beautiful in every way. adrik hoped to have somebody like that - somebody who had been his best friend throughout his life. the only person he could ever marry, though, had left him broken-hearted and alone when he had made the idiotic decision to break-up with her because of her blood status. and now she was probably with other guys, perhaps a more handsome one than himself. adrik shook the thought; it wasn't possible. he was entirely handsome, and all the girls loved him. why couldn't bella, after all this time? perhaps he could find her somewhere and convince her to forgive him for all of his foolishness. now that all the schools were closed but hogwarts, she had to be here somewhere, didn't she? adrik continued walking down the corridor and eventually down the stairs, partially camoflauged by his dark cloak. running a hand through his previously well-kept hair, adrik proceeded down into the dungeons, where he knew (and even hoped) that nate was sitting at his desk, probably grading the latest stack of papers. hopefully he wasn't intruding on nate/estella time. if so, he'd have to tell his sister to hold up on the sexy time. his time with his brother tonight was, for some reason, important to him. more important than usual.
adrik had a feeling that he couldn't get rid of, and it had every part to do with bella. now that he had begun wondering if she was in the castle, he planned on having nate watch for her. if nate agreed, adrik would be one step closer to having the girl he had lost so long ago. rubbing his hands together to rid the chill that the dungeons had given them, adrik slipped through the kitchen portrait, partially scaring half the elves that were busy working. "what are you doing in here? don't you know that it's past hours! get back to your commonroom!" adrik rolled his eyes, pretending to reach for a prefects badge. "grabbing some midnight fuel, obviously. do i tell you how to cook? don't tell me how to eat."" adrik quickly grabbed two or three sandwiches from the leftover pile from dinner, and easily made his way out of the kitchens. wrapping them quickly in the napkin that he'd snatched before leaving, adrik descended into the dungeons, and directly into the potions classrooms. smirking, adrik pushed open the door, laughing a little as he did so. "hope i'm not interrupting anything, professor." adrik laughed again, looking around for his brother and holding up the napkin and the sandwiches. "i've got sweeties." although, really, sandwiches were nothing sweet. if they had been, adrik might have felt the need to head to the lavatory. heading up the stairs into nate's office, adrik pulled on a slightly crooked grin. shaking his head, adrik laughed again. "and here i thought you were up to something. how disappointing." he leaned on the door a bit, playing with the napkin that covered the sandwiches in his hand. if nate didn't want one, adrik would have been glad to devour all four of them. aside from muscle, adrik was pretty slender. as much as he ate, it was a wonder that he wasn't as big as the castle. returning his gaze to his brother, adrik resisted the urge to laugh again. there wasn't much that was funny, but time spent with his brother meant a lot more to him than he'd ever admit.
